These pieces are all of my eye. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to use the equipment in the ophthalmology clinic after hours at Brookdale Hospital. I wanted to capture the beauty of the eye in different views through the perspective of the slit lamp and other mechanisms.


Leana Pande is fourth-year medical student and self-taught artist who has been published and nationally recognized by the American Medical Women’s Association. She paints science and medicine in a stylistic or colorful way that emphasizes the beauty of those structures and concepts, but still maintains anatomic/ scientific accuracy. She has previously taught watercolor at the Everhart Museum in Scranton, PA. She has also been recognized previously by AMSNY. She has been interviewed by NPR about her art.
